Last Walk in Cornwall

So, to make it more exciting, we didn’t follow a written walk, but just went up the coast using a map and our spidy senses.  Or maybe spouse’s spidy senses and my following along and asking directions senses.  Between the two of us we managed very well.

Distance; probably about 7 miles- 4 hours

Route; Coastal path from Portmellon to Pentewan Beach then inland to the Kings Wood Nature Reserve, up the St Austell River and then tracking back down the river and crossing over to take the National Cycle Route back to Mevagissey.

Facilities; toilets, pubs, cafes in Mevagissey. In season there is food and picnic tables at Kings Wood plus Bike hire. I would definitely recommend this as it looked a brilliant cycle ride (bit steep in one or two places but all of the route we walked from Kings Wood to Mevagissey was cyclable, even for me).
This route has everything.  Harbour views of Mevagissey;

Across the fields on the coastal route;

Pentewan Beach;

And the wooded sections through Kings Wood, along the river and over the hills on the cycle route.

Just before turning left to Mevagissey on the home stretch, our last view of Heligan.

Back home tomorrow – I wish we could take this cottage and its views home with us!
